Rob Cohen has served as President of Appriss Health since 2016 and brings more than 20 years of healthcare and technology experience to his role with a career spanning leadership positions at Evolent Health, McKinsey & Company, Anthem, and Healthways.
Prior to joining Appriss Health, he served as the Market President of Tennessee for Evolent Health, a leading health IT and population health provider, where he was responsible for the operations, growth, and profitability of regional relationships.
His healthcare and technology experience spans not only operations and business development, but also customer relationship management, product marketing, and corporate strategy. It is with this diverse skill set that Rob has led Appriss Health to new heights.
In his time with the company, he has been the driving force behind remarkable growth in the prescription drug monitoring and behavioral health spaces, and played a key role in the acquisitions of OpenBeds, a behavioral health capacity management, referral, and care coordination solution, and PatientPing, a care collaboration and network solution.
Rob holds a BBA, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Computer and Information Technology from the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA with honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Data Scientist
Dr. David Speights is the chief data scientist for Appriss. He has more than 25 years of experience developing and deploying analytical solutions for some of the world’s largest companies. Throughout his career, he has managed massive amounts of data using big data tools. He is responsible for analytical modeling and managing POS data from retailers around the globe for Appriss Retail as well as overseeing the development of analytical models for other Appriss business units. In 2017 he co-authored a book about retail analytics.
Before joining the company in 2000, David was first vice president of Mortgage Credit Risk Modeling at Washington Mutual and chief statistician at HNC Software. He consults on projects within a number of industries. Speights holds a PhD in Biostatistics from the UCLA and has several patents.
Senior VICE PRESIDENT of New BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT and Customer Relationship Management
Mr. Brad Bauer brings over 28 years of professional experience working within commercial and government healthcare and strategic partner markets.
Brad’s background also includes over 21 years of experience working within Healthcare Information Technology solutions to help access and mitigate risk. Prior to joining Appriss, Brad worked with McKesson’s interoperability and healthcare technology company, RelayHealth. He worked on projects such as Provider/Supplier enrollment with CMS central office, and program integrity efforts at the state Medicaid level.
Brad also worked closely with the DEA, FDA, and CDC leveraging prescription drug diversion solutions on a national scale. For the past 12 years, Brad has been focused on state Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP’s) and efforts to integrate PDMP data within the clinical workflow. Brad holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA.
Senior VICE PRESIDENT and Co-founder Openbeds
Dr. Nishi Rawat is a co-founder of OpenBeds Inc. and Senior Vice President at Appriss Health. She is a physician and healthcare services researcher, trained in Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and faculty at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is an NIH-sponsored investigator who has won several awards at national meetings for her research and leadership awards from Johns Hopkins for her quality improvement activities. Nishi brings a wealth of healthcare knowledge, creativity, and vision to OpenBeds Inc.
As a critical care physician, Dr. Rawat experienced the frustration of locating the proper care for her patients suffering from behavioral health conditions. That led to the development of OpenBeds(r), a software platform that improves transparency, communications, and ultimately care for behavioral health.
In 2015, NIDA approached Dr. Rawat to partner to develop technology to service the opioid epidemic. OpenBeds(r) is now implemented in hundreds of organizations and serves 8 state governments. Given its success, OpenBeds Inc. was recently acquired by Appriss Inc. where Nishi now leads its strategy in the healthcare sector. Nishi also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Georgetown University.
VICE PRESIDENT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Ken’s experience in healthcare encompasses more than thirty (30) years ranging from working in a hospital’s emergency department to managing and directing a large national Emergency Medical Service organization. The last fourteen (14) years Ken has been instrumental in helping connect key aspects of healthcare data enabling hospitals to make vast improvements within the revenue cycle and clinical healthcare systems.
He taught certification classes in Vehicle Rescue, First Responder Training as well as being a CPR Instructor Trainer for the American Heart Association. He completed his paramedic certification in 1984 and his degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Applied Organizational Management from Tusculum College and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Wesleyan University. Ken is a past board member of the Texas Ambulance Association and is a long-time member of HFMA. His prior speaking events include HFMA’s Oregon Chapter, North Texas Association of Hospital Access Managers, and East Tennessee EMS Director’s Association.

Carol Murdock brings nearly three decades of healthcare marketing, sales and account management experience to Appriss Health. Most recently, she served as the Chief Commercial Officer at Catasys, a behavioral health disease management company servicing managed care organizations.
Carol has excelled at developing and refining strategic marketing and sales operations plans within the provider and payer markets. She also has broad communications experience in branding, thought leadership, crisis communications as well as product development and marketing.
Carol received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Women’s University and worked as a clinical researcher in diabetes and glycogen storage disease. She received her MBA from San Francisco State University.
Vice President of Software engineering
Brian Pearson brings over 21 years’ experience in the information technology and software development field to Appriss Health. Prior to joining Appriss, Brian spent 15 years in a series of expanding IT leadership positions at General Electric. He spent the last 5 years as Executive Director and CTO for General Electric Appliances where he managed a global IT organization responsible for infrastructure strategy and support, public/private cloud, information security, enterprise architecture, employee experience, and software engineering.
Brian brings broad and deep knowledge of technology and experience in software, application architecture, information security, and cloud infrastructure to Appriss Health. An entrepreneurial thinker, Brian was a founding member of the n +1 software development company. Brian is known for being a straightforward and genuine leader who is willing to take calculated risks.
He holds a BS in Engineering Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School.
