Kettering Health Network integrates NARxCHECK™ into its electronic medical records system

LOUISVILLE, KY – Appriss Inc., a leading technology provider for risk assessment and analytics in public safety and healthcare, announced it has integrated NARxCHECK into Kettering Health Network’s electronic medical record system, Epic, to fight drug abuse, diversion and addiction in Ohio.

“Kettering Health Network was the first hospital to utilize the NARxCHECK system at its inception, and we are proud to partner with Appriss in delivering the new NARxCHECK technology to our end-users,” says Andy Lehman, Senior Vice President of Technology & Analytics for Kettering Health Network (http://www.ketteringhealth.org). “Our network prides itself on innovation and patient-centered technology, and our one-click solution has been a physician-satisfier, allowing us to comply with our State’s regulatory standards.”

A real-time report created by the analytics solution, NARxCHECK (http://www.appriss.com/narxcheck.html), provides three key components for prescribers and dispensers: a score, an interactive graph, and the detailed information about each prescription. An algorithm assesses and computes the history from a prescriptions dispensed database, including statewide PDMP programs, to highlight when there might be an issue with addiction, abuse or diversion for narcotics, sedatives and stimulants.

By accurately assessing the number of providers, dispensing pharmacies, drug equivalents, overlapping prescriptions in history and the current number of active prescriptions, physicians can have peace-of-mind prescribing practices allowing practitioners to concentrate prescription review history efforts on those who may be abusing or diverting the drugs to the streets.

“For more than twenty years, Appriss has made it our mission to keep communities safe and informed and we support those organizations and companies that want to solve big problems in our country. There is a national epidemic of prescription opioid abuse and diversion with more than 16,000 dying in the US; over-prescribing is not helping,” said Mike Davis, CEO of Appriss, Inc. “If we can support our physician’s clinical decisions with the analytics of a patient’s history, it may save lives.”
